The New Green Centre – donate your pennies

When you buy selected Co-op products and services, 2p for every £1 spent goes into your membership account. And the Co-op will split the same between like-minded organisations and local causes.

You can select a local cause you would like to support for example The New Green Community Trust.

If you do not select a cause to support, Co-op will share the funds you raised equally between the 3 causes in your community.

To date £170.63 has been donated to the New Green and we ask you to register your Co-op membership Card and select The New Green Community Trust. Pennies donated by you for no cost to you.

New Green Play Equipment

Thank you to the Co-op members

Have you been wondering where all your pennies have been donated to via the Co-op Membership card?

Well, the New Green Community Centre are thrilled to express our deepest gratitude to the Co-op Membership local community scheme and all the generous donors who have played a vital role in making the funding of the play equipment on the grounds of the New Green Community Centre, adding joy and laughter to the lives of Thurston children and families alike.

The Co-op Membership donations helped bring our vision to life but have also strengthened the bonds within our community. The play equipment which cost £20,000 serves as a symbol of the collective effort and commitment towards creating a sustainable and inclusive environment for all.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to each Co-op Member who has indirectly contributed to this cause via shopping at the Co-op. This will make a lasting impact and we are excited about the positive influence the New Green Community Centre will have on the lives of present and future generations.

We invite you to visit the New Green Community Centre and witness firsthand the joy and laughter emanating from the play area, a testament to the power of community collaboration.

Bereavement Cafe at The Thurst

run by St Nicholas Hospice Care

The Bereavement Cafe at The Thurst run by St Nicholas Hospice Care

This drop-in session will be held every fortnight on a Thursday, alternating between the morning and afternoon.

The Bereavement Café is a space where people can talk about the pain of loss and also find courage and strength in knowing they are not alone.

The St Nicholas Hospice Care Psychological Services Team, which leads the project, explains: “Grief can turn your world upside down and make you feel lost.”

The drop-in is not designed to be a counselling session; it is a supportive environment for reflection and conversation, a place where people will be able to find mutual support and encouragement when they need it most.

All sessions will be overseen by trained Hospice volunteers who will be able to offer further advice and guidance.

Dates and times for the Thurston Bereavement Cafe are:

Thursday, 29 February at 2pm
Thursday, 14 March at 10am
Thursday, 28 March at 2pm
Thursday, 11 April at 10am
Thursday 25 April at 2pm

Please call the Hospice’s Psychological Services Team (01284 715572) or check the Hospice’s website to make sure that the group is going ahead. You can also email
